Retirement of Winnie Watson circa 1982

Images courtesy of Alan Duncan, Nursery Manager, Newton Nursery.

Thought to be the retirement presentation to Winnie Watson about 1982 who was retiring from her administrative job in the Forest Research office at Newton. It seems that Winnie worked at Rosarie and also Teindland Forests (before they were amalgamated into Speymouth Forest) and joined the Research Office at some time in the early 70s. In all she had worked 13 years for the Forestry Commission the last 10 being with Research.

The staff lined up from the Forest Research Office are:

1. Graham Menzies (Research Forester Silv.N)
2. Mike Phillips (Head Forester Genetics Section)
3. Nan Elland (Forest Worker " " )
4. Charlie Fleming (Forester " " )
5. Winnie Watson (Clerkess Silv N & Genetics Sections)
6. Shelia French (Forest Worker Genetics Section0
7. Ian Bothwick (Ganger Silv N Section)
8. Charles Blackwood (Head Forester Silv N)

My late father was a Research Forester based at Newton in the 1950-60's.Our family lived at 5 Newton Cottages for a couple of years. By chance I went to school with Graham Menzies at Elgin Academy in the 1960's. Mike Phillips & family moved into 5 Newton after we moved out.
Possibly Mrs Elland (Eland ?) and Mrs French were also resident at Newton Cottages. By the way, my mother, Florence Thomson is 97 and still living on her own. Brings back some long time memories !!
