Foresters at Hamsterley in 1959

Photograph is part of Bill Stoddart’s collection of images taken. The photographs were handed in by his daughter Lilian Allan at the Forestry Memories drop in day at Huntly on 11 June 2010.

This photograph was taken during a meeting of Foresters at Hamsterley, North England on 26 May 1959. The image was numbered on a tracing paper copy which was accompanied by a typed list of names and corresponding numbers. A goldmine!

Numbers have been added to the photograph image and the names are listed below. There was a duplication of one number on the tracing paper but hopefully this has been corrected. You have to open the large image to see the faces and numbers in detail.

No6 Jim Hislop served latterly at Glenrigh Forest near Fort William. No35 Bill Stoddart served in both Glentress and Faskally Forester Training Schools but had a break of about 3 years back in the forests around 1959? No 48 Howard Bell was an acquisitions officer in North Scotland in 1971 and later.

More information on any of the above would be welcome and any notes if they worked in Scotland for a period.
