Glentress Forester Training School 1950-52 Class
Photograph courtesy of Jean Christie but unfortunately Jack had not written names on the photograph. Jack is featured in the front row and it seems was the gold medallist for that year.
John Keenleyside, Forres, stepped into help and was able to name many of the individuals and with the help of some of his colleagues added even more names to the list.
The numbers refer to the larger photograph image which has numbers added to aid identification.

John Keenleyside goes on to say:
‘Other names in this class were: Alfie Weir (not there - possibly ill at the time - He had to repeat the second year with the 51-53 class and is in that photo. His father was the first head forester in charge of Keilder), John Goodall and Ted Saunders also not in this photograph.
John Goodall ended up with the National Coal Board in Northumberland and Durham afforestating open cast pit sites.
Tom Robbie head of School is not in picture or Mr Robertson second in command in 1952. He was an Ex RAF Bader type with a tin leg but a very fine fellow lived in Peebles.
The ones initially posted to North Scotland Conservancy were Ron Evans, Frank Sutherland, George Sutherland, Ted Saunders, Tim Taylor and John Patience (who latterly ended up in the post office in Broadford where I visited him once). George Sutherland went to private forestry at Fairburn, (Muir of Ord) where he served for many years.’
Further comments on the photograph and details of the people would be very welcome.
