Tree Felling at Forestry HQ

The photographs are courtesy of Stuart Mitchell, Peebles area, who formerly worked at Glentress Forest.

This image is of Glentress harvesting operator Ross Deacon felling a beech tree outside the Forestry Commission Head Office at 231 Corstorphine Road Edinburgh around about 1973. Looks like a Husqvarna saw with possiblly a second one in the branches behind him.

No details of why it was being felled but could have partially blown over or it was at the entrance of an extension of the car park down towards the side of the rail/tramway.

Any further details would be welcome.
