Glentress camp children circa 1959

The image is courtesy of James Ross Deacon, Peebles and shows the very neat and tidy buildings and grounds of the Glentress Camp.

He comments:
This photograph is of Mrs Brown (Betha) on her green (1959 approx) in front of number 3 Forest Worker House, Glentress. In the background is semi-Round Nissan hut, empty then but used as small garage, but earlier on I believe was a cookhouse storage hut. Further away the building was an old exercise hut but later was J Foggo's garage for repair of FC motors. People in the picture (not a good photo) are from left, Christine Deacon, Ross Deacon, Shona Spence, (Betha's sister) Mrs Brown, Thomas Deacon (Tom).’

Comments, stories and photographs from other former 'Camp' people would be very welcome.
