Lovely image of ploughing operation on a fine May day in Rannoch Forest. Old style Cuthbertson rounded arched plough with single furrow peat plough head pulled by a Caterpillar tractor. This is really tine plough country as it is shallow firm dry peat over a very stony subsoil and would have wrought havoc on the plough heads. Tine ploughs were just coming in at this time and not that common.
Can anyone identify the location and the valley in the distance? Any suggestions as to who were the tractor drivers?
