Moorburnhead Forest, Dumfries-shire

Photograph is courtesy and copyright of Forestry Commission, Forest Research, Roslin, and provided with help from Glen Brearley. FR Photo number No B3868 taken by G G Stewart.

The text reads as:
‘Spare vegetation on 12in of peat two years after felling at Moorburnhead.’

Forest Research staff were obviously turning their minds to the potential problems of replanting of clearfelled forest crops. There is no mention of any work on this site but the ground looks remarkably clear of brash -almost as if whole trees had been pulled out unsned and processed elsewhere.
