Histories of Forests in North East Scotland

File courtesy of Forestry Commission, Huntly

The letter written in 1975 by GGM Taylor from the Aberdeen Concervancy Office to all the District Officers in the Conservancy gives some information on old histories that had been found in the Conservancy Office. The histories were sent out with the above letter. Fortunately the ones for Aberdeenshire area (as of 2008) have survived and are attached as a PDF.

It seems the short Histories were compiled in 1952 (not 1964 as stated) for each as then Forest Unit looked after by a Forester/Head Forester and listed in alphabetical order. Whitehaugh was No 47 and one surmises there were at least that number of units in the East Conservancy which stretched from Perthshire to Buchan.
Listed in order the histories are No2 The Bin, No8 Clashindarroch, No9 Corrennie, No11 Countesswells, No13 Deer, No14 Delgaty, No28 Kemnay, No30 Kirkhill, No35 pitfichie, No44 Tilliefoure, No47 Whitehaugh.
