Odes for Sheep and Tree

The item from the Scottish Farmer in 1967 is courtesy of Duncan Menzies, Banchory. Large scale version is available via small button on bottom right of image.

The first of the verses (Ode to a Ewe) by an unidentified author was printed in the Scottish Farmer on 25th March 1967. Duncan working at this time as a Forester in Rannoch Forest and living in the Bridge of Gaur Hostel rose to the challenge of composing a response which was printed in the same magazine on 13th May 1967.

The two poems highlight a number of the issues, arguments and concerns of the time skilfully blended into verse.

More verses on any forestry topics are welcomed.
