In Front of Benmore House, Dunoon

Early photograph taken circa 1934 from a forestry album of 117 photographs compiled by an unknown Forestry Commission officer.

No information is provided on this photograph located loose within the album however on consulting the Journal of the Forestry Commission (1935) it reports that the 3rd Quinquennial meeting of Divisional Officers was held in Benmore Forester Training School in September 1934. All the attendees are not known but apart from the ten Divisional Officers and Deputy Surveyors, Chairman Roy Lister Robinson, Assistant Commissioner of Scotland John D Sutherland and Assistant Commissioner England and Wales Mr W A Taylor were in attendance.

In this group the first man has not so far been identified but the second man could be Mr W A Taylor Assistant Commissioner England and Wales, third man is Roy L Robinson Chairman of the FC, fourth is John D Sutherland Assistant Commissioner for Scotland and the fifth is believed to be Mr A G Herbert Secretary to the Forestry Commission.
