Extracted Douglas fir - Inchnacardoch Forest

Photograph courtesy of Jim Pratt and photographer Graham Whistler FBIPP FRPS.
Large Douglas fir trees having been extracted down hill as whole trees by Cable Crane and then dragged on to a flat open track by skidder are now ready to be sorted into roadside piles for the timber lorries to pick up.
The track leads through a well thinned Douglas fir forest where some idea of trees size can be judged from the 5 gallon oil cans on the right hand side. Dalcattaig, Invermoriston.
