Landscape and Conservation site visits
Photograph courtesy of David Foot, Surrey.
A good image of Forestry Commission personnel out on site visits in Galloway with conservation expert Morton Boyd and Duncan Campbell as the Head Office Landscape architect.
The people have been named from the left:
Ernie Michie (Galloway Forest District Manager)
Morton Boyd (Ex NCC then employed as conservation advisor to the FC)
John Y Ogilvie (Assistant to Assistant Conservator Dumfries)
Bill Norrie (District Forester Galloway Forest District)
Duncan Campbell (Lead Landscape Architect for Forestry Commission)
Can anyone name the third person along?
This photograph was taken about the time of the major organisational change in the Forestry Commission from forests units as part of a district to amalgamated units called District Forests with larger centralised offices. In this case the two former Districts headed by District Officers Bill Norrie and Colin Bancroft plus all the individual Forest Units were amalgamated into Castle Douglas Forest District headed by Ernie Michie.
Bill Norrie (ex Aberdeen Univ in his early days an assistant to Bob Cathie when DO at Fochabers) was for a short while assistant to Ernie Michie Forest District manager at Castle Douglas .
The PDF shows another view of some of the group at another site with Duncan Campbell on left, possibly David Henderson Howatt?, John Ogilvie and Morton Boyd
