Maxproof - ah, those were the days! I can remember the smell of the reproffing wax as it was heated by the fire to make it runny enough to paint onto the jacket. Easiest done with the owner wearing the jacket and standing with his arms sticking out. Then it had to be gently removed from the victim, to avoid rubbing the wax off, and hung up to dry. This didn't happen very often - usually the evening after a downpour!
