Overloaded
From Derek Mair, Lochaber District.
James Mair bought a new lorry in the 1960s and still maintained his working relationship with Riddoch of Rothiemay, timber merchants.
Derek, his son, tells us, "the sawmill had taken an order of these
long logs then discovered that they didn't have a lorry big enough, my
old man, overheard the conversation regarding the logs and offered his
service at a price."
The truck was a Lyland Octopus, the only 8 wheeler Leyland ever made.
