Loading pulp at Train Station

Photograph is courtesy of Inverness, Ross and Skye Forest District and staff at their Fort Augustus office.

No information with this photograph which could have been part of the display in the Farigaig Forest Visitor Centre at one time. It is thought this is Crianlarich where one of the stations was converted for the loading of pulp wood from lorries onto rail wagons bound for the pulp mill at Corpach, Fort William. Can anyone confirm as the buildings do not appear as remembered?

The Hymac Loader is working its way along the train filling the wagons with three metre pulp wood as it unloads the 1966 Perthshire registered lorry FES614D. Can anyone identify the lorry type and firm? All the machinery looks very new.

Any information on the vehicle drivers and operators welcome.

This is in the old marshalling area in Crianlarich. It was part of the by then closed Callander line.It has houses built on it now.
The truck may be a "Bathgate" cabbed Leyland /BMC.Possibly a "MASTIFF" model I think that cab was fitted from 1966 onwards so would have been very new at the time.

The wagons being loaded were specially converted for the West Highland Line in 1965 at Barassie Works for the pulp traffic to Corpach. The wagons known as 'Timber P's with code designated UUV. They lasted up until 1980 when the timber pulping plant at Corapch closed. None of the above wagons were preserved.
