Rest break - Fence distribution -Glencripesdale

Picture courtesy of Jimmy Cameron (Caol , Fort William but formerly Arivegaig, Acharacle) taken about 1953/54.
This photograph relates to photograph number 284 showing fence ditrubution with D2 Caterpillar Tractors. Jimmy and fellow Sunart forest squad member Iain MacGillivray having a rest break in a sheltered location in Glencripesdale. Part of the house in the Glen was used as a bothy by forestry staff but local staff crossed daily by Forestry Commission boat from Salen.
Jimmy remembers when the perimeter fence was first put up, openings were left and they attempted to drive the deer out but very few actually went out. Shortly afterwards tracked vehicles (possibly Weasils) and a number of keepers were brought in to cull the remaining deer.
