Loading timber at Logie Coldstone – Gale1953

This Aberdeen Journals Photograph is courtesy of Aberdeen Journals and Forestry Commission, Moray and Aberdeenshire Forest District who hold the image.

Action photograph of men working and checking timber at roadside which has been harvested from wind damaged forest around Logie Colstone. The driver on R M McAinsh, Timbermerchants, Crieff lorry has just finished chaining down a load of exceptionally straight slow taper pine poles no doubt all hand loaded. Note tree emblem on the lorry the low telephone number!

The man in the foreground is checking the lengths of some larger logs on the ground as possibly the merchant looks on. A great photograph.

Can anyone name the men or add some information on the McAinsh business?
