Report No 55 - SB Stumper

Two files containing about 65 Head Quarters Mechanical Development Committee Reports from 1950 to 1958 were saved from destruction by Jim Christie former Forestry Commission HQ, Plant Engineer. Jim, from Crook of Devon, has kindly made the reports available for scanning and entry onto this website. Please open the PDF to see this full report.

Report No 55 delves into the removal of large and very large tree stumps with a British made lever attachment which fitted to the front belly of a heavy tracked machine.

The report and photographs show the machine does work well but the comments of the Director (England - Initials OSS?) and Mr Barrington at the end of the report are interesting and pointed.
