Report No 52 - The Danarm Fury Power Saw
Two files containing about 65 Head Quarters Mechanical Development Committee Reports from 1950 to 1958 were saved from destruction by Jim Christie former Forestry Commission HQ, Plant Engineer. Jim, from Crook of Devon, has kindly made the reports available for scanning and entry onto this website. Please open the PDF to see this full report.
Report No 52 describes the cutting rates of the 39.5 lb Fury Chain Saw against that of a bush man and two man cross cut saw in various sizes of timber and tree.
There is a graph which shows the relative cutting times against tree diameters. Some remarkable times as men and machines strove to outdo each other.
