Inverinan Forest Nursery circa 1963

Don was based as Head Forester at Inverinan from about 1960 through to 1968 before transferring initially to Allean Forest and then Strathyre Forest in 1972. No information was attached to the photograph but with help from Duncan MacDougall, this has been identified as Inverinan Forest Nursery.
This is a second station where lining out boards are being filled by two ladies. The fixed board the roots lie on has very definite spacing notches and appears here to be overriding those on the actual lining out board. Perhaps those on the lining out board are for smaller seedlings or different species?
The whole operation was team effort. Seedlings would have been lifted previously, a day or so before, or as often was the case delivered from another larger nursery where they could be grown more easily by a full time team. The ideal was to have a good balance between the fillers and actual lining out men so that neither was waiting for the other. If piecework was paid it was paid on the total number lined out and shared out between the team.
Can either of the ladies be names?
