Argocat – Skye?

The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. George took many forestry photographs in his forestry career and many are now shown on this web site. Check under ‘Groups’ and George Dey Collection.

A view of an eight wheel Argocat all terrain vehicle which was used mainly to transport men and soft loads such as plants out to the further reaches of new forests where no vehicle roads existed. The initial machines were not that robust with many problems with the drive chains, drive frames and engines. Over time these were beefed up and when treated carefully the vehicles could last for reasonable lengths of time. However the conditions they had to work in and the loads they sometimes carried did stretch them to their limits.

Can anyone confirm if that is John Pargeter, Forester and if the location is in Skye?
