Danarm Power Saw circa 1954The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. George took many forestry photographs in his forestry career and some are now shown on this web site.
The location of this operation and the men operating the new saw are all unknown but thought to be in east Scotland but could be elsewhere.
The Danarm ‘Tornado’ saw is operating as a felling saw on its side showing that the diaphragm carburettor works with the machine in any position. Weighing in at 28 lbs it was no lightweight hence the help of the second man to hold it steady to start the felling cut. Note the tree has first been ‘laid in’ using the axe.
Any information on saw, location and men would be very welcome.
